Chainsaw sculpture is an art form that is taking the world by storm. It has evolved from utility to folk art and is now taking its place on the world’s stage as a new fine art form. Much like the towns of Libby and Troy, Montana, chainsaw sculpture is a direct outgrowth of America’s timber heritage. We are proud to be able to shine a light on our communities and their rich heritage through this annual event.

The inaugural Kootenai Country Montana Chainsaw Carving Championship was a tremendous success by all measurements. The event was well received by not just the artists and spectators, but also by the Libby community. Business and community leaders are still raving about the event, in fact the Libby Area Chamber of Commerce nominated the Kootenai Country Montana Chainsaw Carving Championship for its “Event of the Year” award for 2017.

This is your opportunity to be a part of Libby’s newest annual tradition, the Kootenai Country Montana Chainsaw Carving Championship. In our first year we brought 15 of the world’s finest chainsaw artists to Libby for a three-day competition and public festival, witnessed by hundreds of residents and visitors alike. For 2018, we’re expanding the field to 20 artists competing for nearly $15,000 in total prize money.
